I read this book aloud with my 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son. They have both loved it. The main character is an unlikely hero. He has lost of fun animal helpers. There is great humor and an unexpected ending.

Another winner in my book. I loved this story. Sweet unassumming Alfie is such a treat to follow and the friends he makes are so unexpected and perfect. Great story and humor. Love it!

We are almost done reading this book and I am genuinely sad it is almost over. I find myself continuing to read even though my kids are fast asleep. A great cast of characters and vividly written.
